With their fractured songs, unexpected blasts of feedback, laconic vocals, cryptic literate lyrics, and defiant low-fidelity, Pavement were one of the most influential and distinctive bands to emerge from the American underground in the '90s. Pavement, along with Sebadoh, were the leaders of the lo-fi movement that dominated U.S. indie rock in the early '90s. Initially conceived as a studio project between guitarists/vocalists Stephen Malkmusand Scott Kannberg in the '80s, Pavement gradually became a band during the early '90s. Along the way, their initial EPs and debut album, 1992's Slanted & Enchanted, earned a devoted following of musicians, indie fans, and critics.

Grave Architecture Lyrics

Pavement

Come on in...
Grave architecture (x2)
Walk the marble malls [? ]
The monuments to those who fall
And its a pocket less than narco shell-bit
Stiff the crypt and the others are rough
And the hoods so rad
And Im fucking glad
Glad to see that, know what it means
It takes a lot
Grave architecture (x2)
Stroll past the strip
Is it old? am I clipped?
Am I just a bathtub waiting to be gripped
Or found on shady ground?
And the lampshades poised on the overwhelm
Drugs, and need the talent to breathe
It takes a lot
Oh yeah, you wanna be like a blind fish
Positive, were positive-- go!
Takes a lock-grip, baby
To put you to war
And Im pushin you back than ever ? ? ?
Thatll push you hard
It takes em......
