With their fractured songs, unexpected blasts of feedback, laconic vocals, cryptic literate lyrics, and defiant low-fidelity, Pavement were one of the most influential and distinctive bands to emerge from the American underground in the '90s. Pavement, along with Sebadoh, were the leaders of the lo-fi movement that dominated U.S. indie rock in the early '90s. Initially conceived as a studio project between guitarists/vocalists Stephen Malkmusand Scott Kannberg in the '80s, Pavement gradually became a band during the early '90s. Along the way, their initial EPs and debut album, 1992's Slanted & Enchanted, earned a devoted following of musicians, indie fans, and critics.

Passat Dream Lyrics

Pavement

You know youve got it all wrong -- theres no other way to find it
You know you gotta be strong -- and I really hope you plan to buy it
cause thats the way to passat, babe
And thats the car to his soul
He will bring you all the millions in gold, child -- if you will only let
Him have his role
Everybody wishes youd gone -- Ive got no time to find it
And the dealer with the jingly song will never match my price reduction
cause thats the way to passat, babe
And thats the car to his soul
He will bring you all the millions in gold if you will only let him have
His role
Yeah, you gotta be strong -- theres no other way to fund it
All the plantings are young and able --
And I hope you find a way to buy it
cause thats the way to his heart, babe
And thats the way to his soul
You got to give him millions in gold, child --
Before I go the way of the sold
And thats the way to his heart, babe
And thats the way to his soul
Youve got to give him millions in gold, child --
Before I go the way of the sold
